Annette O'Toole was raised in Houston, Texas at her mother's dance studio. As a young girl of two, she made her first appearance on television when she was a kid in The Don Mahoney Children's Trooper program. When she was 13, after ten years of singing and dancing training ahead of her, she and her mother travelled on a journey to L.A. for a year to find out if they could be a successful show business. She got her first job as a professional dancing instructor in only two months: Danny Kaye's show The Danny Kaye Show. She claims that she's made use of her singing and dancing talents in numerous ways. "The training you gain from that is wonderful as an actor." Her first role as an actor was My Three Sons, followed with appearances on Gunsmoke, The Partridge Family, The Mod Squad, as well as Hawaii Five-O. O'Toole has been a part of more than forty television shows. Despite her fame on TV and in movies the theater is her main interest. After her run of six years on Smallville was done, to devote herself exclusively to theater. This is exactly what she has been doing since the beginning of this decade. Following her move into New York, she had her debut on stage as a seagull in The Sea Gull. She's been in numerous off-Broadway musicals, like Adam Rapp's Kindness and Tracy Letts' Man from Nebraska.
